Actress Lilian Afegbai popularly known as Lily Afe, has expressed disappointment after being omitted from the Best Supporting Actress category at the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
The actress, who portrayed Idia in Kemi Adetiba’s Netflix series “To Kill a Monkey,” states on social media that her exclusion wasn’t unexpected but still stung.
“I always choose to believe everything happens for a reason. I don’t need a nomination for validation. The truth is clear nobody trended like IDIA from TKAM last year. Her acting was. You guys can eat your award”, she wrote.
Lily Afe’s performance in “To Kill a Monkey” drew widespread acclaim, particularly for her use of pidgin English.
The Best Supporting Actress category features nominees including Linda Ejiofor, Bisola Aiyeola, Sola Sobowale, and Funke Akindele.
The 12th AMVCA ceremony is scheduled for May 9, 2026.
