I don’t have money to lift you from poverty – GehGeh tells family members

Content creator Emmanuel Obruste, popularly known as GehGeh, has responded to allegations from his younger sister that he neglected her and other siblings despite his wealth.

The dispute became public after the sister claimed she was turned away from GehGeh’s housewarming ceremony.

The allegation drew criticism of the influencer on social media.

In an Instagram video, GehGeh addressed the backlash, stating that he does not yet have the financial capacity to lift his entire family out of poverty and can only do his best, not give everything.

He said he has supported his family in the past, including buying the phone his sister currently uses.

GehGeh also noted that he is the first in his family to achieve a financial breakthrough and currently cares for three children.

The influencer argued that he must prioritise financial strategy over emotion to avoid later needing help himself.

He described himself as frugal with money and said that approach helped him reach his current level.

He referenced singer Asake as an example, noting that despite achieving international success over four years ago, Asake only bought cars for his parents this year.

GehGeh said he only began earning from social media two years ago.

He added that he is the first person in his family to build a duplex and own cars.

He questioned expectations that he should immediately elevate all relatives from poverty.

He advised his brother and sister to get jobs and not depend on him for financial support.
