The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), at the weekend graduated 1,626 officers to beef up migration management and strengthen national security architecture of the country.
The Comptroller-General of the Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap charged the officers to be on top of their games in professional conducts, intelligence-driven operations and other statutory responsibilities expected of them.
The event was the Fourth Combined and Upgrading Course, 2026 , with a Passing Out Parade held at the Immigration Training School, Kano (ITSK) and the Digital Bridge Institute.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the NIS, Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, Akinsola Akinlabi, the training aimed at enhancing the professional capacity of officers, and positioning for rigorous task ahead.
Akinlabi qouted the Comptroller-General who was represented by the Assistant Comptroller-General in charge of Human Resources Management, S U Agba, as saying that the Service expected the officers to perform their responsibilities optimally.
Nandap congratulated the graduating officers, reminding them that technology remains an important enabler in addressing contemporary Border Security and Migration Management challenges.
She reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to the continuous training, upgrading and welfare of its officers.
The Commandant of the Immigration Training School, Kano, Comptroller of Immigration, Tony Akuneme, said a record number of cadets were mobilised for the training, making it the largest in the history of the School.
Akuneme urged the graduating officers to rise to the changing dynamics of Border Management by facilitating legitimate migration flows and preventing irregular migration and trans-border threats.
The ceremony featured merit awards to deserving course participants, while an Ultra-Modern Market constructed by the course participants was also commissioned.
