Adeda’s death: Delta police arrest Education commissioner, three others

The Delta State Police Command has arrested the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu, and three other suspects over the death of the ministry’s Deputy Director, Mr Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda.

The arrest brings the number of suspects in police custody to five in connection with Adeda’s death.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Bright Edafe, made this known in a statement yesterday.

The police spokesman also announced a manhunt for two key suspects: the Director of Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs Clementine Ufuoma, and the Commissioner’s driver, Clement Apia.

Edafe said the two were wanted to assist the police with the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Adeda’s death.

Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Samuel Erale, urged Ufuoma and Apia to make themselves available to the police without further delay.

He assured the deceased’s family and members of the public that the investigation would be conducted thoroughly, impartially and professionally.

Erale said the command would follow due process and bring anyone found culpable to justice in accordance with the law.

He expressed the command’s condolences to the deceased’s family.

Recall that Adeda reportedly died in hospital on September 25, 2026, a day after an alleged confrontation and beating at the ministry involving the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu, and his aides.
