Iyabo Obasanjo meets Tinubu, insists on Ogun governorship bid

Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, a governorship aspirant in Ogun State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, has hailed President Bola Tinubu’s strong commitment to strengthening democracy and providing the requisite leadership to make the country great again.

Obasanjo gave this commendation in a statement on Tuesday, in which she disclosed what transpired during her visit to Tinubu in Lagos.

The former Commissioner for Health and Senator who represented Ogun Central between 2007 and 2011 described her meeting with the President as very fruitful and memorable, as their discussion centred on leadership and the further development of the country.

Obasanjo said, “Yesterday in Lagos, I had the privilege of meeting His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Our conversation was insightful and forward-looking, focusing on leadership, governance, and the ongoing development of our nation and Ogun State.

“As we continue consultations ahead of 2027, I remain committed to serving with integrity, experience, and a people-centered approach.

“The journey continues with purpose, clarity and enduring dedication to Ogun State.”

Speaking about her desire to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun in 2027, Obasanjo said, “I have been part of the political landscape of this state for many years and I understand the aspirations and challenges of our people.

“I am not new to the system, and I believe that experience is important when it comes to governance and delivering meaningful development to the people.

“What Ogun State needs at this time is leadership that understands the people and is committed to transforming every sector of our economy.

“If given the opportunity to serve as governor, I will focus on strengthening education, improving healthcare delivery and creating employment opportunities for our youths.

“We must build a state where our young people have jobs, where our schools produce future leaders, and where our health institutions can adequately cater for the needs of our citizens.
