The Orimolusi of Ijebu Igbo, Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo, has congratulated former President of the African Development Bank Group, (AfDB) Dr. Akinwumi Adesina on his African Lifetime Achievement Award at the African Heritage Awards.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Publicity and Strategy, Otunba Jide Seun Fowode, the monarch described the honour as a reflection of Adesina’s lifelong dedication to service, excellence, and the advancement of the African continent.
“The award is a true reflection of a lifetime of excellence, service, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of Africa,” the statement said.
The royal household commended Adesina’s leadership at the African Development Bank Group, noting that his tenure had positively impacted millions of lives across Africa and contributed to socio-economic development on the continent.
It also highlighted Adesina’s gesture of dedicating the award to Nigeria and Africa, describing it as an indication of his humility and belief in the continent’s collective future.
“As a Kingdom, we take pride in this remarkable achievement and celebrate a man whose legacy continues to inspire generations,” the statement added.
The monarch further prayed for continued wisdom, strength and good health for Ijebu Igbo-born Adesina as he continues to contribute to humanity and Africa’s development.
Dr. Adesina, a renowned development economist, served as President of the African Development Bank Group and has received multiple international recognitions for his contributions to agriculture, economic growth, and poverty reduction in Africa.
