The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has announced September 28 as the tip-off date for the Final 8 of the Zenith Bank/NBBF Women’s Basketball League, to be staged at the Indoor Sports Hall, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
In a statement, the NBBF said the hall became available for the finals following the postponement of the National Intermediate Games, which had been scheduled to start on October 1, paving the way for the league to conclude as planned on October 3.
Eight teams are due to arrive in Lagos on September 28, ahead of an NBBF Congress on September 25. The Final 8 opens on September 29, with the final fixed for October 3.
MFM Women Basketball team and Nigeria Customs won the Atlantic and Savannah conferences respectively, winning all their games across both phases to enter the Final 8 as favourites.
MFM are joined from the Atlantic Conference by First Bank, Victoria Queens and Bayelsa Blue Whales, while AS SKY Queens, Titans and Air Warriors join Customs from the Savannah Conference.
MFM will be seeking to reclaim the title they lost to Dolphins last year, while Customs will chase their second title. Record nine-time champions First Bank are looking to end a title drought dating back to 2018, and Air Warriors are targeting a first title since 2019.
